Wichai Wittaya Bilingual School (English Program)

History of the School
 
WWBS was established in 1996 in the present location. The land which is about 3 rai (approximately on acre) belongs to a Muslim foundation called Al-Jamal. It was the wish of the former president of the AL- Jamal foundation (Mrs. Suda Waree who passed away on October 10, 2001, at 87s) to set up a school complex with quality education for youth in Thailand. In 1995 the foundation had agreement with a Turkish based educational company called Marmara Education to establish a school on the foundation owned land. The new management made everything ready to open a high school with Bilingual Program at the end of 1995. The Ministry of Education approved license of the school on the 25th of May, 1996.   Growth of School since 1996:At the time when the School first opened in 1996 there were only 21 Grade 10 (Mattayom 4) students. The number of students has increased significantly in the following years. Currently there are more than 700 students from K1 to G12 studying at WWBS. WWBS, being the first opened Bilingual School in Northern part of Thailand, is a leading school in providing quality English medium instruction in all levels. It has also being a good example and played a very important role in the development new English Programs in Chiang Mai province.
